"As a Kodaly-trained person with a little bit of Orff experience, I love that the arrangements look interesting yet accessible for my students. I've been wanting to implement more instrument playing in my room, and this looks like such a great place to start! Thank you!"

"Great collection! I am starting an after school Orff Ensemble this year and was looking for things they could do combined with my after school Honor Choir. Several great pieces to start with! A few of these pieces are songs I already do with my classes and will be great extensions of what I'm already doing. Thank you for this wonderful collection!"

Concert-ready, rich sounding Orffestrations.
Each arrangement combines simple parts that combine to create a rich musical texture. This approach creates works that can be learned by a general music class or special performance ensemble while also being worthy of concert programming with high audience-appeal. Each arrangement includes voices, recorders, or both, and can be performed as an all-inclusive musical feature.
Designed with inclusion in mind.
Each arrangement is designed with inclusion in mind. There are different skill levels represented, allowing the instructor to match parts to students' abilities and map differentiated learning in their classroom. As a result, every student succeeds at their level, building musical confidence.
Arrangements that go deeper.
Each work is 'orchestrated' with musical form and structure in mind, going beyond the application of a simple bordun. There are opportunities for students to learn about key compositional elements such as introductory and ending sections to frame the work, form, solo elements, timbre and textures, part-independence and part-relationships, creating imagery with sound, and more. There are many key musical concepts that can be revealed to students, creating a springboard for detailed, high-order discussions and student reflection.
Flexible Part Design.
Even if you do not own a full compliment of Orff instruments, the arrangements in Great Big House are written to allow for part substitutions and even omitting a part as needed or desired. Don't have recorder players? No problem. Simply omit that section! No matter how you modify parts to meet your instructional or performance needs, the ending result will still sound great.
Just Plain Fun!
While there is much that the student will gain through performing these works, these songs are simply fun to play. Both the student and teacher will find them highly rewarding. GREAT BIG HOUSE will make a worthy addition to your library of classroom and performance resources!
